St. Nicolas specialize in unique handmade decorations. Their intricate keepsakes are designed in London and handmade by charities in India and Thailand helping rural women to find work in their community. Over 200 skilled women work at home sewing decorations for St. Nicholas.
Our Royal Opera House decoration features the beautiful facade of the building, it is made using a traditional Indian method of embroidery called zardozi. Zari (meaning gold) it is a highly skilled technique that traditionally used gold wires and jewels to embellish courtly robes. Zardozi work is a rare and respected craft, the skills of which are handed down from generation to generation.
