The jewellery is designed exclusively for the Royal Opera House by Just Trade to celebrate the return of Nutcracker to our stage. Just Trade works in partnership with small fair trade projects across the world. These projects offer life changing training, secure work opportunities and fairly paid employment for marginalised producers.
The necklace and earrings are handmade by the Flowering Desert Project which provides training and fairly paid work for women from rural communities in Tamil Nadu, Southern India. Hand cut from brass and planished using a specialist hammer to give it texture thensilver plated, they each have a blue glass bead in the centre.
