Keith Warner's production of Verdi’s Otello was the hottest ticket in the operatic world when The Royal Opera premiered it in June 2017. The reason? Jonas Kaufmann's titular debut in a role widely considered one of the most demanding in the tenor's canon. Add a stellar supporting cast of Marco Vratogna (Iago) and Maria Agresta (Desdemona), bring in arch-Verdian Sir Antonio Pappano to conduct the full ranks of the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House and it's no wonder the occasion has become part of Royal Opera folklore.
