The Royal Opera House

Treasures of the Russian Ballet ICA DVD

This DVD is a record of the West's earliest exposure to the bravura and discipline of Russia's Kirov and Bolshoi dancers at the height of their physical and interpretive powers. This rare footage showcases some of the greatest dancers of their time, including the much celebrated Galina Ulanova - who came as close to artistic sainthood for Russians as any dancer in its history - and Yuri Soloviev, who, as Danila in The Stone Flower, partnered by Alla Sizova, received an enthusiastic response from the Covent Garden audience.
