Our Odette Tutu Greeting card features a close up of the tutu worn by Svetlana Beriosova in The Royal Ballet Touring Company production of Swan Lake from 1965. It was designed by Leslie Hurry and photographed by Hugh McDermott. © Royal Opera House Collections. You can see the other tutu cards available here
An image of the full tutu is on the back of the card and includes a description of what goes into making a tutu and the materials used:
Tutu with a bodice of white grosgrain polyester tafetta and a basque of white rayon tafetta. The neckline and centre front of the bodice have appliquéd white net decorated with silver braid and iridescent flower sequins. White feathers are glued onto the top V of the bodice and splay over the neckline. The underskirt is white net with pointed edges. The overskirt has appliquéd net decorated with gold braid and iridescent faux jewels in feather shapes. White feathers are sewn between the top two layers of net. There are elastic shoulder straps, and elastic strap in the gusset, bra cups, and a wooden hoop in the skirt.
