Dreas Reyneke focuses on the Dynamic 5th which gives the dancer co-ordination, core control and stability from the feet in application and action. The purchase is to give a perspective of the progress, challenges and transition dance students make from 16-19 years of age, from adolscence to adult, from amateur to profressional. The students open with a short demonstration of how the Dynamic 5th is applied. Then a step by step preparation follows for Breathing, Footwork, Port de Bras, Pirouettes and Turns in the air. In both Preparation and Matwork, the First Years demonstrate the basic exercises. Second and Third Years add the progressions. The programme is implemented over a period of a year and a half.
Pilates & Preparation for Dance Students leads to Turning Out Dancers: Advanced Pilates with Tamara Rojo, Edward Watson, Johannes Stepanek (by kind permission of The Royal Ballet) and Désirée Ballantyne (of English National Ballet).
